Running L&D Like a Business by Focusing on Metrics

calendarTuesday, March 24th 2020, 04:00 PM - 05:00 PM Eastern Timezon

What happens when a district sales manager takes over a sales L&D group? Amazing things. Foremost, he focused on answering the main question that the c-suite asks: What is L&D providing in return for the company’s investment? When he was a sales leader, the competitive nature of sales drove him and his colleagues to monitor their numbers, strive to exceed their goals, and outpace each other. Bringing that same metrics-focused mentality to L&D allowed Adrian and his team to achieve several things. First they gained insights about the quality of their programs. L&D managers used this to adjust courses that were underperforming. Second, he focused on metrics that align to the business. One interesting and important metric, revenue per instructor for external courses, shows the power of measuring and monitoring; revenue has risen from $3.4M to $3.8M to $4.2M over the past three years. Third, he gathered data from various systems to create a standard and thorough dashboards that shows business leaders how L&D is performing against the plan and helping the business achieve goals.

Using Demographic Data to Gain Context and Insight

calendarTuesday, April 14th 2020, 04:00 PM - 05:00 PM Eastern Timezone17 days remaining

Demographics are often collected as an afterthought, but they are key to generating insights. For example, an onboarding course that exceeds benchmarks for all respondents might fall short for experienced hires. Or an examination of the data by geographic regions might highlight that some countries are benefiting from training substantially more (or substantially less) than others. Come hear Brett Hatten share his experience with demographic analysis and his recommendations for investigating demographics to highlight strengths and areas for improvement. Learn what MTM can do for you that you might not be able to do for yourselves.

A Visual Tour of Learning Analytics (2nd Edition)

calendarTuesday, April 21st 2020, 03:00 PM - 04:00 PM Eastern Timezone24 days remaining

The second edition of Learning Analytics is available for pre-order and will be officially available for purchase on April 28, 2020. With two new authors, revisions to existing chapters, and four new ones, there is so much to share. We thought we'd take a non-traditional approach to launching this book. Instead of TELLING what's new, we will be SHOWING what’s new. We will share iconic images from the book as a way of emphasizing what's new and critically important. Our hope is that the images, like the grid for the Talent Development Value Framework, the concentric circles for the Value-Centred Organization, Ready Reports and Dashboards among several others will help you remember the key insights from the book and inspire you to read the second edition and learn more about Explorance and its products.

Continuous improvement is something Explorance and our clients value, and we recognize that even something that’s working can be better. This is why in 2017 we refreshed our SmartSheets to create even more reliable and valid instruments that are easier to understand and faster to complete. This webinar will provide insights into what drove some of those changes, how the changes came about, and most important, how the refreshed SmartSheets have been adopted and utilized by learning organizations across the globe. Come hear about how organizations are leveraging these changes to drive improvements in how they measure the effectiveness of their programs.

A Data-Driven Day-to-Day Equals Impact and Change

calendarTuesday, June 16th 2020, 04:00 PM - 05:00 PM Eastern Timezone80 days remaining

When Trinity Health began their data-driven journey with MTM, their goals of demonstrating ROI and the value of leadership development offerings were front and center. High quality data and professional reporting were now at their fingertips, making it easier to create impactful presentations for senior executives, and budget requests more justifiable. Their journey took an unexpected turn when they realized that their laser focus on executive-level reporting left some big opportunities on the table. During this session, Jill will share the realities of their L&D environment and explain how a small shift in focus has led to big changes in design, delivery, and impact. She will also remind us of some simple, tactical ways that MTM data can be used, which are sometimes forgotten in the quest for proving ROI.
