Black Women’s Blueprint: Black Women’s Blueprint envisions a world where women and girls of African descent are fully empowered and where gender, race and other disparities are erased. We work to place Black women and girls’ lives, as well as their particular struggles, squarely within the context of the larger racial justice concerns of Black communities. We are committed to building movements where gender matters in broader social justice organizing so that all members of our communities gain social, political and economic equity. We engage in progressive research, historical documentation, policy advocacy and organizing steeped in the struggles of Black women within their diverse communities and within dominant culture.

Dreams for Kids: Dreams for Kids replaces charity with opportunity. We develop young social entrepreneurs through practical education and mentorship so they can turn their ideas into impact. Our Dream Leaders are young social entrepreneurs who turn their ideas into impact and help create the future today. We engage students with volunteer service, leadership conferences, and fundraising opportunities and provide practical education through our digital social entrepreneurship curriculum that drives student learning into the world and is delivered by teachers in class and supported by mentors beyond school.

Growing HomeWe have a vision of a world of healthy people and communities. Everyone deserves to have a good job, and everyone deserves to eat well. That’s why we’ve been helping people find meaningful careers through skills learned while farming since 2002. We start people on the path to self-sufficiency. When people have jobs, they have economic stability in their lives; this stability allows for healthy people and families. But we don’t stop there: we use our unique model to impact neighborhoods with the greatest need. That’s why our farms are located in Englewood, a community on the South side of Chicago that has been under-served for decades and has extremely high rates of unemployment and poverty, hundreds of acres of vacant lots, and a distinct lack of healthy food choices.

Door Prizes

A value of $12,000 in door prizes will be awarded at the conference. All attendees will be automatically entered to win one of these valuable prizes.

Chicago, IL

Chicago O’Hare (ORD) International Airport is 17 miles from the hotel. Drive time is around 35-60 minutes and typical taxi fare is around $40 USD. There is also the option of taking the subway (the CTA train, also called the “L”) from the airport at $2.25 USD with a travel time of 45 minutes to downtown. When taking public transportation from O’Hare International Airport, take the Blue Line train to Monroe/Dearborn stop. Take Monroe east to the hotel and the Palmer House is on the south side of the street.

There is also the option of taking the subway (the CTA train, also called the “L”) from the airport at $2.25 USD with a travel time of 25 minutes to downtown. GETTING AROUND

Did you know? Chicago is a walking city with an easy-to-navigate downtown grid. Madison Street divides the city north and south, while State Street divides it east and west. The State/Madison intersection marks the origin of Chicago’s address grid system. Addresses are relative to the distance from that mark, with eight blocks to every mile. So an address of 3600 North Clark means that it is 36 blocks north of Madison.

From planes, trains, and automobiles to bikes and water taxis, view all transit options here.

THINGS TO SEE & DO
