The second edition of Learning Analytics is available for pre-order and will be officially available for purchase on April 28, 2020. With two new authors, revisions to existing chapters, and four new ones, there is so much to share. We thought we'd take a non-traditional approach to launching this book. Instead of TELLING what's new, we will be SHOWING what’s new. We shared iconic images from the book as a way of emphasizing what's new and critically important. Our hope is that the images, like the grid for the Talent Development Value Framework, the concentric circles for the Value-Centered Organization, Ready Reports and Dashboards among several others will help you remember the key insights from the book and inspire you to read the second edition and learn more about Explorance and its products.

Using Demographic Data to Gain Context and Insight

calendarTuesday, April 14th 2020, 04:00 PM - 05:00 PM Eastern Timezon

Demographics are often collected as an afterthought, but they are key to generating insights. For example, an on-boarding course that exceeds benchmarks for all respondents might fall short for experienced hires. Or an examination of the data by geographic regions might highlight that some countries are benefiting from training substantially more (or substantially less) than others. Brett Hatten shared his experience with demographic analysis and his recommendations for investigating demographics to highlight strengths and areas for improvement. Learn what MTM can do for you that you might not be able to do for yourselves.

Running L&D Like a Business by Focusing on Metrics

calendarTuesday, March 24th 2020, 04:00 PM - 05:00 PM Eastern Timezon

What happens when a district sales manager takes over a sales L&D group? Amazing things. Foremost, he focused on answering the main question that the c-suite asks: What is L&D providing in return for the company’s investment? When he was a sales leader, the competitive nature of sales drove him and his colleagues to monitor their numbers, strive to exceed their goals, and outpace each other. Bringing that same metrics-focused mentality to L&D allowed Adrian and his team to achieve several things. First they gained insights about the quality of their programs. L&D managers used this to adjust courses that were underperforming. Second, he focused on metrics that align to the business. One interesting and important metric, revenue per instructor for external courses, shows the power of measuring and monitoring; revenue has risen from $3.4M to $3.8M to $4.2M over the past three years. Third, he gathered data from various systems to create a standard and thorough dashboards that shows business leaders how L&D is performing against the plan and helping the business achieve goals.

Going Viral: Generating Buy-in and Interest in MTM Data

Measurement journeys vary across organizations. Some Implement quickly and easily. Others struggle. For Fresenius Medical Care, the journey was already underway, but they used less than optimal measurement practices—deploying paper-based Smile Sheets and entering data manually into Excel. Analysis and reporting were cumbersome and time-consuming. Hunches not insights were the rule. Now, more than a year after implementing Metrics That Matter, the journey is much smoother. In this webinar the Fresenius team will share the following recommendations: communicate, build the onion, meet your friends—the skeptics, make it about the data, and know when to jump. Apply these recommendations to help build support for your measurement practices along your journey.

Aligning Data Collection and Reporting to the Business Using the Portfolio Evaluation Approach

calendarTuesday, November 5th 2019, 04:00 PM - 05:00 PM Eastern Timezon

Business leaders often state that they are unable to share the value of L&D with the board of directors and stakeholders. Why? In some cases proper measurement practices are not mature enough to provide insights. For others L&D is unable to effectively communicate how training programs affect business goals. This webinar will focus on how L&D can solve this problem with three simple steps: 1. Collect meaningful KPIs across the curriculum with training evaluations, 2. Align programs to business-relevant portfolios, and 3. Report evaluation results according to those portfolios.
